Early trends in Maharashtra showed that the ruling Mahayuti was leading with 178 seats out of 288, while the Opposition Bloc INDIA was in second place with 93 seats.

The ruling alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led early trends in Maharashtra with 177 seats out of 288, while the Opposition bloc INDIA was a close second with 93 seats, India Today reported. In Jharkhand it was neck and neck, with the INDIA bloc and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leading with 41 and 37 out of 81 seats.

Exit polls on Wednesday predicted that the ruling Mahayuti is likely to have an edge over the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Mahayuti was expected to retain power with a slim majority months after the MVA won 30 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress was keen to build on its performance in the Lok Sabha.

In Jharkhand, some polls predicted the NDA would win a slim majority, but others said the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress alliance was heading for a comfortable majority.
