Larne FC: Nathan Rooney favorite to replace Lynch as manager

Nathan Rooney has emerged as the favorite to become the new coach of Irish Premier League side Larne.

The Englishman currently leads the Gibraltar team Bruno’s Magpies.

Rooney has been named as Larne’s number one target following Tiernan Lynch’s departure as Derry City manager earlier this week.

The 35-year-old has helped improve the Magpies’ fortunes, including securing qualification for European club competitions.

Rooney’s side knocked out Derry City in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League in July by an aggregate score of 3–2, before losing over two legs to FC Copenhagen in the next round, 8–1.

During Lynch’s tenure at Larne, the Invermen captured their first ever Irish League titles, winning back-to-back Premier League crowns.

He also led the East Antrim club to the league stages of Europe’s premier competition, opening up new horizons for the Irish League side.
