Why Henry Winkler ‘ended’ daughter Zoe’s reality TV career

Once upon a time Henry Winklerdaughter, Zoewanted to become a real reality TV star.

In the latest issue What kind of Winkler?! podcast Zoe, 44, revealed she was almost on a completely different path before her dad, 79, put a stop to her reality TV career.

“Remember when I fought to become Bachelorette party? – she asked what Happy days The alum responded, “Oh my God. And we put an end to it, and only for your protection.”

After Henry jokingly asked his daughter “thank you,” Zoe recounted how she once said: Kim Kardashian and Sarah Howard were invited to take part in a show called Quarter life crisis – an opportunity that Henry also gave up for her.

“I’ll never forget (executive producer) Matt Hannah,” she recalls. “He was working at VH1 at the time and he flew out to Los Angeles and made an amazing video about us. And I don’t even think I mentioned this to you… I was living at home at the time because I was just graduating from college. He came home and you met him outside.”

“I did,” Henry continued. “I said, it’s great that you’re here, I can recommend some really good restaurants, (but) my daughter is not on your show.”

Although Zoe’s dreams of reality were dashed and Kim “became the most famous person in the world”, she admitted that her father’s strong stance allowed her to achieve her lifelong dream of teaching.

“I became a teacher and it was the best job and something I had always truly wanted to do,” she explained, before Henry added that he knew she was “born” to teach after visiting her class multiple times.

“I’m not kidding, (it’s) not because I’m your father,” he continued. “I’m just telling you objectively that I saw it happen. If I were a young parent at the time I saw how you parent and how you teach, I would steal your technique and use it as my main method. ”

Zoe began working as a kindergarten teacher after graduating from Loyola Marymount University. After several years of teaching, she transitioned to humanitarian work after co-founding the nonprofit This is About Humanity in 2018.

The organization helps families and children who have been separated at the US-Mexico border by raising awareness and offering resources and assistance.

At one time she told Hollywood Reporter that she was inspired to create the organization after seeing the conditions in which migrants lived in border detention centers.

“I couldn’t get the images of those kids out of my head,” she told the publication. “I have a one-year-old, a three-year-old and a six-year-old, and if they were separated from me, I don’t know if they would cope. I mean, it’s so devastating and we’re living in such a scary time like this that I feel like I never in my life thought I’d be an activist, but I have no other choice.”
