Envision completes testing of world’s largest grid-forming energy storage platform – PV International Magazine

From ESS News

Envision Energy Storage announced that its grid-forming energy storage (GFM) demonstration platform in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, has successfully passed extensive testing conducted by the China Electric Power Research Institute. The platform, equipped with the world’s largest single-unit energy storage system with a capacity of 5.5 MW/14 MWh, is the first in the world to receive certification to this stringent standard.

Testing included eight main scenarios and assessed nearly 1,000 performance metrics. The tests confirmed the platform’s capabilities for voltage and frequency support in weak networks, black start function, autonomous operation, smooth GFL (grid following)/GFM transitions, continuous high/low voltage fault handling, inertia support, damping control. and suppression of wide-frequency oscillations.
