After the search engine, OpenAI plans to introduce its own browser

After launching your search engine OpenAI plans to launch its own browser earlier this month, The Information reports. If this happens, OpenAI will find itself in direct competition with Google Chrome. The report also states that OpenAI’s browser will be combined with its chatbot and will provide much more accurate answers and results. According to the report, the company has discussed its upcoming product with app developers and websites such as Conde Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite and Priceline, who may have previewed its prototype or design.

The launch of the browser will enhance the company’s reputation, especially since it is already a leader in the field of artificial intelligence after the release of ChatGPT. Notably, the company has also entered the search market with SearchGPT, a feature available to premium users.

Golden mean

Although the OpenAI gas station is only in the planning stages, it is currently in the middle. Since the upcoming browser will compete with Google Chrome, current claim this is the icing on the cake. The US Department of Justice has recommended significant changes to Google’s structure and operations, including the potential sale of the Chrome browser, as part of efforts to address its dominance in Internet search. The proposals come after a groundbreaking court decision in August, when a federal judge found that Google illegally maintained a monopoly on search services.

Google controls about 90 percent of the online search market, and Chrome, the key means of delivering Google search to Internet users, controls more than 50 percent of the browser market in the United States.

“Google’s unlawful conduct has deprived competitors not only of critical distribution channels, but also of distribution partners who might otherwise have been able to provide competitors with access to these markets in new and innovative ways,” the DOJ said.

The ongoing lawsuit against Google, forcing it to sell Google Chrome, provides the perfect opportunity for OpenAI to make its move.

SearchGPT

According to OpenAI, users can receive quick and timely responses with links to relevant web sources that previously required a search engine. “It combines the benefits of a natural language interface with up-to-date sports information, news, stock quotes and more,” OpenAI added. ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on your query, or you can choose to search manually by clicking the web search icon.

It is currently available to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users. OpenAI will also roll out this feature to all of its free users in the coming months.
