Consumer prices in Japan rose 2.3% year on year in October | 11/22/24

(RTTNews) – Overall consumer prices in Japan rose 2.3 percent year-on-year in October, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said Friday.

This was in line with expectations and down from 2.5 percent in September.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, headline inflation rose 0.4 percent, beating forecasts by 0.2 percent after falling 0.3 percent the previous month.

The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile food prices, rose 2.3 percent year-on-year, above expectations for a 2.2 percent rise but lower than the 2.3 percent rise a month earlier.
