Manchester City news: Fans’ opinions on Pep Guardiola

We asked you to tell us what Pep Guardiola’s contract extension at Manchester City means for another two years.

Here are some of your comments:

Brian: When I look back at where City have been in the past and where we are now as one of the greatest teams in the world, 99% of the credit goes to maestro Pep Guardiola. He gets the best out of every player. He is the Mozart and Da Vinci of managers. May he reign for a long time.

Johnny: Every Christmas turned into one big turkey and tinsel pie. Fantastic news for all City fans.

Phil: This is great news. I think it will be good to see Pep rebuild the team as we need to replace Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Kyle Walker and we also have a plan to replace Bernardo Silva, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic over the next two years .

Martin: He has been an outstanding coach and now faces the challenge of replacing aging (and injury-prone) players with a healthy dose of homegrown talent. If he can do this over the next two seasons while remaining in the Premier League’s top three, his legacy will be forever secure.

Chessie (Portsmouth fan): I have been following football for over 50 years and in that time I have seen some great football: Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, Manchester United’s period in the 1990s, Liverpool’s great attacking style and many more. However, I have never seen a manager change the face of football so much that many other teams across Europe are trying to copy his amazing style.
