Pixar’s New Show Inside Out Looks Awesome, But There’s Something Still Really Confusing Me

Pixar fans have been patiently waiting for the iconic animation studio to release its first fully produced television series. From 2020 Win or lose was awarded this honor. However, now the situation has changed. Instead of, Spin-off series Inside Out Dream Productions will mark Pixar’s first foray into television when the limited series premieres on Disney+ on December 11 as part of TV schedule for 2024.

Although the new release date was announced back in September, the day before Inside out 2 became available to stream on Disney+ without a teaser trailer. Fortunately, this has changed. Just three weeks before the premiere, Pixar finally released the film. Dream Productions trailer, and how massive Inside out fan, I’m happy to report that it looks amazing! But as excited as I am for the new show, I can’t help but feel confused about the timing the creators have chosen for it.

Dream Productions looks like a really fun show

When the project was first announced, Pixar creative director Pete Docter said it would be a mockumentary-style show centered around the team of creatives responsible for bringing Riley’s dreams (and nightmares) to life. Fans met the Dream Productions characters briefly in the first film, when Joy, Sadness, and Bing Bong turned an awkward dream into a nightmare in hopes of waking up Riley so they could catch the train back to headquarters.

While I admit I was a little apprehensive about this project when I first learned about it, watching the trailer put a lot of my fears to rest. Paula Hurma’s job as director of Riley’s dreams appears to be on the line due to a series of bad dreams lately. With her job on the line, Paula runs into Zeni, another dream director who has a different vision than the one Paula has been using for years.

In addition to the dream workers, the series will also feature Riley and the five original emotes in one capacity or another. Judging by the trailer, the four episodes will be filled with humor and emotion. change the audience’s brain chemistry as both Inside out films were made.

But I don’t understand why they put this before the events of Inside Out 2.

As much as I’m excited for Pixar’s first TV show and Iinside out franchise growthI don’t understand why Dream Productions happens when it happens. Judging by the trailer, the series takes place between the first and second films, which means there will be no new emotions that fans love.

Now I understand where Pixar is coming from. Since production of the series began earlier Inside Out 2 was released, it makes sense that the writers were skeptical about including new characters since they had no idea how the public would react to them. However, since the sequel became highest grossing animated film of all timestrange is the absence of Anxiety and other new emotions.

Not to mention, the limited series will feature a slightly younger Riley than we saw in the sequel, which could limit her dream potential. I think it would have been more interesting to see the Dream Workers struggle with Riley’s adolescence the same way emotions had to deal with change in the sequel.

Maybe if Dream Productions is a hit and becomes one of The Best Disney+ Original ShowsPixar will reconsider the status of its limited series and turn it into a full-fledged TV show that can include all nine of Riley’s emotions. At the moment, we are waiting for four episodes, which will be available to everyone who has Disney+ subscription December 11.
