Intel to sell 150-acre California campus, assessing future of 50-acre Hillsborough site

Intel plans to sell its 150-acre campus in Folsom, California, as part of a major effort to cut costs amid falling sales. The chipmaker said it is also assessing the future of its 50-acre Hawthorn Farm and is working to consolidate its presence at its Silicon Valley headquarters.

“We are changing our global real estate strategy to focus on fewer, more populated locations and eliminate underutilized space,” Intel said in a statement Friday. “This approach will encourage greater face-to-face collaboration across our largest facilities while also delivering cost savings for the company.”
