When the court decided not to allow live broadcasting of Democratic Party Rep. Lee Jae-myung’s first perjury trial on the 25th, the people’s power said it respected the decision but regretted it.

In a commentary, senior representative Han Ji-ah said, “It is true that Lee’s trial verdict will have a significant impact on our society, and that the implementation of justice has been delayed due to constant delays in trials.”

He then stated that there was also widespread public opinion in favor of transparent disclosure of proceedings in socially significant cases following the first trial for violation of the Election of Public Officials Act.

He also demanded that the trial be strictly considered in terms of the public’s right to know and the public interest in the future.
