Haaland calls Guardiola ‘the best coach in the world’ amid reports of new contract

Erling Haaland called Pep Guardiola best manager in the world and probably the best ever as reports show Manchester City The boss is determined to extend his stay at the Premier League champions.

Guardiola has won six Premier League titles with Manchester City since joining them in the summer of 2016, including an unprecedented current run of four titles in a row.

Two of these titles were with Haalandwho joined the team in the summer of 2022 and became the Premier League’s most prolific striker.

Since signing, the striker has topped the Premier League scoring charts in both seasons, scoring a record 36 goals in 2022/23 and 27 in 2023/24.

Haaland will continue this form into the 2024/25 season, scoring a league-best 12 goals.

“He’s the best manager in the world,” Haaland told Sky Sports News. “Probably the best manager who has ever existed on earth.

“I expected a lot from him and he lived up to it every second. So I’m very happy and you can see it when I play.”

Guardiola is reportedly close to signing a one-year deal to replace the one that expires at the end of this season. The new deal will extend the Spaniard’s 10 more years at City.

However, he is preparing his team for Sunday’s visit Tottenham Hotspur in Gameweek 12 of the Premier League, in a form of poor form he had never encountered before as a manager.

In all competitions, Manchester City have lost four matches in a row: two in the league, losing 2-0 away. AFC Bournemouth and 2-1 in Brighton & Hove Albion; one in the EFL Cup with Spurs; and one in the UEFA Champions League with Sporting.
