The FBI and sheriff’s office hope new images will help solve a 2016 Madison County cold case.

MADISONVILLE, Texas (KBTX) – With the help of newly released facial reconstruction images, the FBI and Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) hope to identify “Baby Madison.” Her skeletal remains were discovered in 2016 near Madison, and investigators have been unable to fully identify her since then.

In 2017, a forensic examination showed that the child was between two and five years old.

Investigators are trying to identify the body of a child found in Madison County.

Baby Madison’s remains were found in a black suitcase wrapped in a white trash bag off I-45, about 38 miles northeast of Bryan, on Sept. 17, 2016, according to the FBI.

Baby Madison, with long, thick black hair, wore a size 4 diaper and a size 4 pink dress. The dress featured a butterfly pattern and the words “Follow Your Dreams” embroidered on top by the brand Mon Petit. She was also found with a feeding tube and investigators said she received specialized medical care.

The FBI initially said it believed Baby Madison had a condition called micrognathia, which occurs when a person’s lower jaw is smaller than it should be. This is also known as “mandibular hypoplasia”. However, a new facial reconstruction image created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NKMEC) and other tests led investigators to conclude that she did not have the disease.

According to genetic testing, baby Madison could be of Salvadoran and Mexican descent, specifically from Nuevo Leon.

MCSO and the FBI want everyone to take a closer look at the updated images to see if they recognize Baby Madison. If you have any information about this child, you are urged to immediately call the Sheriff’s Office at (936) 348-2755, ext. 322.

This case remains open.
