The Yankees predicted they would sign Teoscar Hernandez.

New York Yankees hope to re-sign Juan Soto, but if they don’t, they will be active in free agency to sign the outfielder.

Soto is a top free agent and Just Baseball’s Ryan Finkelstein predicted he would sign a 15-year, $645 million contract. With New York Mets. At the same time, Finkelstein ensured that the Yankees signed Teoscar Hernandez to a four-year contract worth $85 million.

“The ‘prove it’ deal was a bet on himself and a chance to win it all with the best team in baseball,” Finkelstein. wrote. “Things worked out well on both fronts for Hernandez, who had an All-Star season and took home his first World Series ring. Now Hernandez is ready to make money and get paid. Entering the age-32 season, this is his real chance to get paid on a long-term contract. As of 2019, Tesocar is one of the few hitters to eclipse 25 home runs in every full season.

“His 158 home runs during that span rank 15th in MLB,” Finkelstein added. “Many teams will be calling on Hernandez to add some depth to their roster, but the differentiating factor in negotiations may come down to who is willing to commit the most years to him.”

If the Yankees lose Soto, signing Hernandez would be the next best thing. His bat will help compensate for the loss of Soto and will cost much less.

Hernandez hit .272 with 33 home runs and 99 RBIs With Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024. He is a two-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger.

The Yankees are focusing on signing Soto.

New York’s main goal this offseason is to re-sign Soto.

The Yankees traded Soto for one season and hope to owner Hal Steinbrenner. is to keep it in the Bronx for the foreseeable future..

“Our fans really enjoyed seeing him in New York,” Steinbrenner. said. “He definitely played a big role in why we got to the World Series. I have ears. I know what is expected of me. So, look, this was a priority. If that weren’t the case, we wouldn’t go to the West Coast.”

While Soto is the Yankees’ top target, Steinbrenner says he’s not sure what the chances are they’ll re-sign him.

“I have no idea,” Steinbrenner said. “We will be aware. I’ll leave it as it is.

Soto hit .288 with 41 home runs and 109 RBIs in 2024 with the Yankees.

Hernandez says re-signing with the Dodgers is his priority

I’m very pleased to be a part of this.”
