Preschoolers learn touching lessons about philanthropy and kindness in South Jersey

Students at The Learning Experience in Marlton receive lessons in philanthropy.

Each month the curriculum focuses on a new topic. November is all about giving and volunteering.

Students not only learn to help society, but also put it into practice.

Children and their families donated supplies, which were collected into “blessing bags” for the homeless.

“Some parents come and say, ‘Oh, my kid mentioned that… I didn’t even know you were talking about that,’ because it’s a little surprising when your three-year-old comes home and talks about donating and volunteering and all that stuff.” , said lead teacher Caitlin Walker.

As part of the Philanthropy curriculum, students learn to support local nonprofit organizations and engage in activities such as being polite, speaking kind words, and sharing information with classmates.

“Just as it is important in the curriculum to focus on the alphabet, shapes and colors, we also focus on just being good people and learning at a young age, and they can do it,” said Tricia Silk, owner of The Learning Experience Marlton. .

Next month’s lesson is on the word hope. Teachers say it’s a fitting time for the holiday season and a good reminder to give each other hope.

“Sometimes some kids may not get a toy, but that’s still hope for the season. It’s not just about receiving gifts, being with family and looking forward to the new year,” said Principal Bianca Salinas.
