San Diego County sends two Republicans and five Democrats to the California Assembly for legislative terms that begin next month.

The region also elected a Democrat to the state Senate.

Close to final voting results were published on Thursday. Although the election has not yet been certified, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters only has about 20,000 ballots left to count out of more than 1.4 million cast.

The next count will be published on November 27.

In the 74th Congressional District, which covers northern San Diego County and southern Orange County, Republican incumbent Laurie Davis received nearly 116,000 votes. San Clemente Councilman Chris Duncan, a Democrat, received about 112,000.

The more conservative 75th Legislative District chose talk show host and former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio over Andrew Hayes. DeMaio received more than 120,000 votes, while Hayes, a member of the Lakeside Union School District board, received less than 91,000. Both are Republicans. The district covers most of the Eastern District and part of the inland Northern District.

In District 76, which also includes North County, about 112,000 votes went to Democrat Darshana Patel, a member of the Poway Unified School Board. Republican businesswoman Christy Bruce-Lane earned almost 96 thousand.

The 77th Legislative District covers many coastal communities. Democratic incumbent Tasha Berner received about 152,000 votes to Republican James Brown’s roughly 100,000 votes.

Democrat Chris Ward ran unopposed for another term representing most of the city of San Diego in the 78th Congressional District. He received about 173,000 votes.

The 79th District covers part of this city and the Eastern District. More than 78,000 ballots went to LaShae Sharp-Collins, a professor and education expert. La Mesa Councilman Colin Parent received less than 67,000.

The South 80th Legislative District will once again be represented by Democrat David Alvarez with nearly 113,000 votes. Republican Michael Williams earned about $72,000.

Democratic Assemblywoman Akilah Weber will soon head to the upper house of the Legislature with nearly 265,000 votes in the 39th Senate District. Republican Bob Devine received about 155,000.
