Baby Guinness warning issued for millions of Britons ahead of Christmas – Food and drink

As the festive season approaches, parties and pub crawls begin.

And while you and your colleagues will sink a few drinks after work, or you spend the evening with friends because you need to do it earlier Christmas‘, there is always one question that seems to be asked… ‘Shots fired?’

I mean, we say it’s a “scary question” but most of us are pretty quick to nod yes. Maybe it’s tequila or sambucca, or maybe it’s an important person; creamy Baby Guinness.

But before you start knocking them back this winter, millions of Britons will be given a warning about the glasses being small and strong.

Baby Guinness is, of course, made with two key ingredients: coffee liqueur and Irish cream, usually Bailey’s.

And many British families tend to keep a bottle of the drink open during the festive season.

But one common problem that people end up with when drinking this drink – even if they drink a ton with their friends and family – is the fact that we often don’t finish the full bottle.

How many of us convince ourselves we will take on Dry JanuaryThe Baileys will be banished until next winter, and shots are certainly out of the question. As a result, it sits unattended in the refrigerator for months.

This is a bit of a problem, though, because Bailey’s has an expiration date, and if you’re getting rid of it, there’s something you absolutely shouldn’t do.

While the drinks company itself says its drink has a shelf life of two years from the date of bottling, open or unopened, there are others who warn it’s best to drink a batch within six months.

Typically, if a bottle is unopened, it can last for two years, but once opened, you should probably finish it within six months.

The drink contains dairy cream, which will spoil over time, and since you don’t want to drink a rancid drink, you may have to throw it away.

You’d normally think of throwing your expired drink down the kitchen sink and recycling the bottle, but according to the merchants at MyBuilder.com, that’s the wrong thing to do.

They warn that Bailey’s and similar products can “cause damage” to your plumbing and even eventually block pipes.

Because dairy cream contains a lot of fat, it places Bailey’s on the list of foods that should never be thrown down the sink, along with lard, butter and grease.

So either finish off the bottle with a few more bottles of Baby Guinness or dispose of it properly.
