Adani scam: Government will respond after studying charge sheet, says AP CM Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the state government will look into and respond to the alleged $200 million bribery scam during YSR Congress party rule in the state in 2021.

“Now even talking about corruption committed by Jagan Reddy is problematic. We will study the charge sheet in the case and respond accordingly,” Naidu said. He said corruption during YSRCP rule in the state had damaged the brand image of Andhra Pradesh.

The criminal charge in the federal court in Brooklyn, US, alleged that Gautam Adani personally met with then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Reddy in August 2021 and discussed the issue of a power supply agreement and incentives required for the state government to enter into deal for the purchase of 7,000 MW of capacity.

The indictment alleged that $200 million in bribes were paid to the prime minister and senior officials in connection with the deal.
