Governor Hochul announced funding for apartment renovations

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Money heading to Northern New York could help ease the housing crisis.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced $40 million in funding to restore 600 apartments that are currently in disrepair. part of the vacant premises rental program.

Our region will receive approximately $3 million of this amount, with $1.2 million going to Franklin County and $2 million to Essex County.

The funding covers improvements such as health and safety upgrades, code violation corrections, accessibility upgrades and general renovations to make the property livable.
