Huge 480ft £30m superyacht may be sinking on purpose – but for a very good reason – The Sun

THIS giant £30million superyacht sinks at the touch of a button – but for an incredible reason.

Incredible images show the industrial ship-turned-megayacht diving underwater while holding various vehicles from land and sea on its stern.

The whimsically named “OK” can accommodate up to 20 guests, who can drive, fly or swim aboard thanks to the vessel’s ability to partially sink.

OK began life back in Japan in 1982 as a yacht transport vessel, which, despite its modernization, is still capable of operation today.

Work began in 2019 to transform the industrial vessel into a £30 million work of art and will be completed in 2022.

The 480-foot-long semi-submersible ship is designed with an open deck that has endless storage space for whatever vehicles its wealthy owner wants to put on it.

It could be a colossal 151-foot sailing yacht or even a seaplane.

Marine vessels can come directly on board without any problem thanks to the yacht’s incredible ability to submerge its mid-mounted stern platform.

It works by allowing the ship to take in water ballast to allow the cargo to float on the deck.

Once in place, the water ballast is released from the vessel and the deck and cargo are returned to a position above the waterline – as if nothing had happened.

If guests had smaller toys and tenders, this would not be a problem, because that is what the 40-ton crane that launches and raises the ships is designed for.

A luxury car ramp allows vehicles to climb onto the deck, making the ship fully adaptable to land and sea.

The OK also features an ultra-luxe indoor pool surrounded by glass windows, giving visitors a simulated experience of swimming in the sea.

There is also an open-air cinema, a botanical garden and four aquariums.

And, amazingly, once the aft deck is cleared, the space can be used as an outdoor tennis court.

Guest and crew accommodation is located at the bow of the luxury ship and can accommodate 20 guests.

The unusual vessel was originally a transport vessel called the Super Servant 3, built by Japanese commercial shipbuilder Oshima Shipbuilding.

But after a redesign by exterior designer and 2015 Young Designer of the Year winner Timur Bozka, OK was born.

LICENSE TO TROLL: Plans for a real-life Bond villain’s superyacht with an underwater shark tank

Discussing his creation, Bozka said: “The idea was to create a floating island concept that could accommodate a variety of toys – even a seaplane or other superyacht – without disrupting the powerful lines of the previous version.”

In recent years, the OK has been at the Karmarine shipyard in Turkey, but it is unclear where this incredible vessel is located now.

Likewise, an ultra-luxury megayacht designed like a military-style aircraft carrier promises to be Sheikh’s paradise on the sea.

Plans for “Floating” Dubai“The ship includes a huge pool deck, a relaxing spa and not one, but two huge helipads on board.

The superboat, called UAE One, was designed by Milan’s Enzo Manca, who, in collaboration with the sheikh, made it the flagship of the United Arab Emirates.
