The Red Sox finalized their 2025 coaching staff and announced an expanded role for Jason Varitek.

The Red Sox have officially announced their 2025 major league coaching staff, confirming the addition of four rookies as well as an expanded role for longtime stalwart Jason Varitek.

Varitek will retain his role as game planning coordinator but will transition from the club’s catching coach to Boston’s run prevention coach. Parker Guinn, who was recently hired from the New York Yankees, will take over the duties of catching instructor and bullpen catcher, while former Worcester Red Sox bench coach Jose Flores will become the club’s new first base coach.

The previously announced appointments of Dillon Lawson (assistant hitting coach) and Chris Holt (bullpen coach) were also officially confirmed to the staff.

Guinn, 31, spent the last two seasons with the Yankees as a Dominican Summer League coach. He also coached numerous college programs after playing for the University of Washington and Southern Illinois Edwardsville.

Flores, 53, spent the last three seasons as the WooSox bench coach after previously serving as first base coach for the Philadelphia Phillies (2018) and third base coach for the Baltimore Orioles (2019-20). The Puerto Rican native has served as a coach in various capacities since 2001, including with Puerto Rico’s team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Alex Cora (manager), Ramon Vazquez (bench coach), Andrew Bailey (pitching coach), Pete Fatse (hitting coach), Ben Rosenthal (assistant hitting coach), Kyle Hudson (third base coach/fielding instructor) and Charlie Madden (bullpen catcher) will retain their existing roles through 2025, the club announced.
