How Yuki Tsunoda almost missed the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas

Yuki Tsunoda said he was “almost sent home” after being questioned by immigration officials in America before the weekend. Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The RB driver arrived in the US earlier this week and upon entering the country through the airport, was detained by officers and questioned about whether he would be allowed to remain in the country.

The Japanese driver, who is in his fourth season with Red Bull’s junior team, said he doubts he will be allowed to stay and that it is difficult for him to convey that he has come to race.

“Luckily they let me in after a couple of discussions, a lot of discussions actually,” he said. “They almost sent me home. Everything is fine now, but yes, fortunately I am here.”

“I’m traveling with my physiotherapist,” he added. “Obviously, when you go through customs, you go through individually, right?

“And all of a sudden he (the official) just put me in a room, and when I had the conversation, I was like, can I bring the person I’m going to be traveling with? Maybe he can help me explain a little more about me and the situation in Formula 1?

“But I wasn’t allowed to bring them or even call anyone. I also wanted to call the team or maybe F1 to help me. But you can’t do anything in this room.”

After a short delay with immigration, Tsunoda made it to the Las Vegas paddock.

Tsunoda became confused about his entry into the US after a recent visit to Austin.

Tsunoda expressed his confusion about the situation as he had already visited the United States about a month before landing in Vegas.

The Japanese driver had no problems arriving in Austin, Texas, for October’s US Grand Prix, but suggested his appearance in Vegas could cause problems.

“Maybe I was wearing pajamas and the color is like… I don’t know,” he said.

“It just felt like they put a lot of pressure on me and I couldn’t say anything.

“Otherwise, if I say something, I’ll feel like I’m in even more trouble. Luckily it went smoothly.”
