NYPD officers shoot gun suspect in Soundview – NBC New York

Two NYPD officers opened fire on a gun-wielding suspect in the Bronx, one of the shots hitting the man in the leg, a law enforcement source said.

Officers were called to the scene on White Plains Road in the Soundview neighborhood after 3:30 p.m., the source said, following reports of a fight involving a gun. Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, who pulled out a handgun.

Both officers opened fire, hitting the suspect once in the leg, the source said. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to Jacobi Hospital and is expected to survive.

A pistol was found at the scene. Both officers were treated for tinnitus at the hospital.

The investigation continued.
