Manchester City ‘delighted’ as coach officially signs new deal, extending Etihad contract to 10 years

Manchester City are “absolutely delighted” that club icon Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract to continue at the Etihad.

“This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing moments together. I have special feelings for this football club.

“That’s why I’m so excited to stay for two more seasons.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to trust and support me – the owner, chairman Khaldun, Ferran, Txiki, the players and of course the fans… everyone associated with Manchester City. It has always been an honor, a pleasure and a privilege to be here.

“I’ve said this many times before, but I have everything a coach could want and I really appreciate it.

“Hopefully we can now add more trophies to those we have already won. That will be my goal.”

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak added: “Like every City fan, I am delighted that Pep’s journey with Manchester City will continue; allowing his dedication, passion and innovative thinking to continue to shape the landscape of the game.

“His desire for improvement and success remains insatiable and the direct beneficiaries of this will continue to be our players and coaching staff, the culture of our club and the English game as a whole.

“This extension will allow Pep to move beyond ten years as Manchester City manager and continue to rewrite the managerial record books.”
