Boy George regrets ‘not very nice’ comment about Liam Payne being touched by his father’s actions.

Boy George, 63, has expressed his regret over the “not very nice” comment he made about Liam Payne before the One Direction star’s death. The “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me” singer shared that he was deeply touched by the news of Payne’s father, Jeff, in Argentina following his son’s death. Geoff traveled to Buenos Aires to assist local authorities with their investigation and bring Liam’s body back to the UK.

Boy George and Culture Club have announced their 2023 The Letting It Go Show tour.

“As for Liam Payne, I was watching him a few days before it happened… I remember watching online and I actually posted a message underneath the post saying, ‘He’s gone crazy,’ which was not very pleasant, but I felt it. I felt it was out of control.” George, shared on the November 21 episode of the High Performance podcast with Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes.

“And when it happened, it just hit me. Just like Amy Winehouse hit me. Because it seemed so pointless.” he said, reflecting on Payne’s tragic fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16.

“I woke up at 5am and it was on the American news and I literally thought, ‘What the hell?’” I literally said, “No, that’s not true.” I couldn’t accept it. I think everyone felt the same way.” – Boy George said. “Someone tweeted me, ‘You only care because he’s handsome.’ I think, “Damn it. You’re an idiot,” George said. “I take care of his family… I watched my dad. Heartbreaking. I cried a lot because of this. I was really very sad.”

Liam Payne will be remembered at a private funeral service in Amersham, England on Wednesday 20 November. His former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were in attendance, marking the first reunion of the four surviving members. since Malik left the group in 2015.

Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 25, was spotted at the funeral with his ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, who shares a 7-year-old son named Bear with him. The funeral was also attended by celebrities such as Simon Cowell, James Corden and Cheryl’s Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

In early November, prosecutors in Buenos Aires filed charges against three people in connection with Payne’s death. Brian Nahuel Pais, along with two other people, is charged with drug withdrawal resulting in death and involvement in the distribution and delivery of drugs.

Brian Nahuel Pais expressed his willingness to fully assist the police in the investigation into Payne’s death. He stated: “I want to contribute everything to the investigation: my phone, everything. I don’t have anything that can harm me… It’s another thing to contribute to what I’ve seen personally and what I’ve experienced.”
