The 669 km long Haryana section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway has been opened for traffic. This expressway will significantly reduce travel time from Delhi to Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir via Amritsar.

Vehicles can now travel on this 135-km stretch from the Kundli Manesar Palwal Expressway (KMP) to the Punjab border in Kaithal district, also known as the Greenfield Expressway. While construction work is still ongoing on approximately the 261-km stretch in Punjab, toll collection has already started on the 135-km stretch.

A total of eight toll barriers have been constructed on this section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.

On the KMP-Kaithal section of the Delhi-Katra Expressway, the toll charges are as follows:

  • Passenger vehicles (cars, jeeps, etc.): Rs 240 one way, Rs 360 return.
  • Light Commercial Vehicles: Rs 385 one way, Rs 580 return.
  • Two-axle buses and trucks: 805 rupees one way, 1210 rupees return.
  • Three-axle commercial vehicles: Rs 880 one way, Rs 1320 return.

Travel tax will be collected in the same way: a receipt is issued at each entry point and payment is made at exit.

Toll barriers have been installed at various points, the first of which was installed on the Delhi-Amritsar Expressway near the KMP Expressway. The remaining toll plazas have been set up on Kharkhoda-Sampla, Rohtak-Kharkhoda, Panipat-Rohtak, Jind-Gohana-Sonipat, Rajasthan-Panipat, Karnal-Jind and Kaithal-Narwana roads.

The National Highway-State Highway Interchange on the Expressway will be completed by March 2025, NHAI officials said.

Delhi – Katra in just 6 hours

The Delhi-Katra Expressway will significantly reduce travel time. While the distance from Delhi to Katra is only 6 hours, it will take four hours to reach Amritsar on this expressway. This expressway will also facilitate access to cities such as Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.

The expressway will pass through Jind, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. Near Nakodar, the Greenfield Expressway will split into two sections, one heading towards Amritsar and the other heading towards Katra.
