It’s that time of year. Türkiye? Check. Wood for the fire? Check. Did you order pumpkin pies? Check. Airport parking space?

Not so fast. It’s a little more complicated, isn’t it?

Lee County Port Authority would like to remind travelers of the following information for traveling outside of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) this Thanksgiving:

  • Expect a busy Thanksgiving at RSW this year. Travelers should plan ahead. It is recommended that you queue at the security checkpoint at least two hours before your domestic flight and three hours before your international flight.
  • From today (Friday, November 22) to Wednesday, November 27, parking spaces may fill up faster. Please allow yourself extra time to find parking and consider alternative ways to get to RSW, such as dropping off friends or family or using commercial transportation. If necessary, RSW will publish updated airport parking information. website And Facebook page to keep travelers updated on availability.

  • For Thanksgiving, RSW will offer commuters a remote and reserved parking option called RSWRemote. It is located on the north side of the airport, on Regional Lane, near Chamberlin Boulevard. The RSWRemote parking lot will accept vehicles for entry into the parking lot from 3 a.m. Saturday, November 23rd until noon on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 28th. Cars may leave the lot from Thanksgiving until the last flight arrives on Wednesday, December 4th. The cost will be a flat fee of $60 no matter how many days you choose to park and is non-refundable. RSW recommends adding an additional 30 minutes to your travel time to take advantage of the remote parking option.
  • Local roads are very busy, so allow extra time to get to the airport. To avoid congestion, use I-75 Direct Connect to get to and from RSW.
  • If severe weather is forecast at your destination or connecting airports, travelers You should check with your air carrier to see if there are any changes to their flight schedules.
  • Visit the Transportation Security Administration website at: tsa.gov Tips on what you can and cannot bring through the checkpoint.
