Muppet Vision 3D is closing, leaving fans devastated, but its stars will be moving to a new Disney attraction

The Disney Muppets are preparing to take their final bow.

On Friday, November 22, Disney announced that one of its most beloved attractions, Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3D, will close to make way for a new Monsters Inc.-thematic land.

Fans of the long-running show, which debuted in 1991, were understandably devastated by the news, which had been rumored for months as park watchers speculated about parts of Disney’s Hollywood Studios that were ripe for a change in theme after That Monsters Inc. announcement in August.

“People won’t like this,” one Instagram the commentator predicted. Another simply added: “Not cool.”

Some noted the important legacy of the attraction, which was the last project Muppet creator Jim Henson worked on before his death. “Farewell to the oldest and last thing that the great Jim Henson brilliantly built with his own hands,” reads one comment.

However, the Muppets aren’t leaving the Orlando park entirely.

Disney has not announced a closing date for Muppet*Vision, but said there is “plenty of time” left to watch the show one last time. It’s highly likely that this will happen in 2025, as the company previously announced it was working on a new one last summer. Monsters Inc. The land is “scheduled to begin next year.”

The fate of other tenants in the area now known as Animation Courtyard, where Muppet*Vision is located, including Mama Melrose and Pizza Rizzo, was not discussed in the blog.
