Former upstate pastor pleads guilty to federal child sex charges

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – U.S. Attorney General’s Office documents show a former upstate pastor has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

Daniel Mayfield was arrested in 2023 on charges of voyeurism.

Mayfield now faces federal charges. According to the documents, he knowingly possessed materials containing images of child pornography.

Documents say Mayfield knew the items contained a child under 12 years of age.

The maximum penalty for this crime is $250,000 and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Mayfield is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on more than 100 sex-related charges.
