ODOT is preparing trucks for the winter season

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Ohio Department of Transportation says its 32 trucks in northwest Ohio are ready to hit the road this winter.

November 21st was Snow and Ice Inspection Day and district mechanics inspected all trucks and winter attachments to ensure they were prepared for the colder weather.

ODOT says it’s a day to make sure everything is ready, from salting roads to de-icing and snow removal.

“Many of our trucks are typically used for different purposes during the other three seasons of the year,” said Kelsey Hoagland, ODOT District 2 public information specialist. “So we come in and set up our plows and things like that. , then another pair of eyes comes and checks to see if everything is okay.”

ODOT wants to remind drivers to leave plenty of room for plows to clear roads this winter.
