(Politics) The ruling and opposition parties failed to reach an agreement on the recommendation of the constitutional judges… “Discussion next week.”

The ruling and opposition parties decided to recommend three constitutional judges to the National Assembly by today (22nd), but could not reach an agreement.

Park Joon-tae, a spokesman for the People’s Power Party, told reporters at the National Assembly that they were holding talks behind the scenes and were continuing discussions that would conclude early next week.

National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik also said at the press conference that he would wait a little longer, saying, “I understand that opinions between the two parties are converging quite a bit.”

However, it is reported that the Democratic Party of Korea still maintains the position that it has the right to recommend two out of three members of the National Assembly.

The ruling and opposition parties are divided on whether to recommend one seat each and decide by agreement, or whether the majority Democratic Party will recommend it alone.
